Blackwell vs ICSM 2s - 03/02/2020

ICSM 2s 7 - 18 BLWP

Mama always said ‘life’s like a box of chocolates, you never know what you’re gonna get’. A passion-filled Marco, a Charis with a Geordie centre, or a bitter old man that spends his time commuting from far-off places to get in a shouting match with a bunch of twenty year olds.

Alas, we move

The first game of The Cup arrived and we were ready. Minds and bodies aligned with the victory chakra, the whistle blew and we were off. Bish, bash, bosh, the goals were scored and the precedent was set - classic polo with a tight press. Whether you have vino in your veins or rage from an impending strike, we used it as our fuel. It was a great quarter with some amazing shots and assists. Team work and dream work, it worked with us ending the quarter 7-1 up and things were looking good.

Primed and ready to go, we started the next quarter. The thunder from down under, Theo, had some sweet breaks and subsequent shots. It also saw the return of ICSM’s dreamy eyes but he was no match for our Maltese stallion who whacked 3 shots in the back of the net. If their keeper was any less melaninated, he would be glowing like the run-off from a nuclear power plant… boy he was angry!

You’re now tuned in to LUSL FM with the breakout single ‘Shrill Yelling’, the Ibiza remix of the classic Careless Whisper by George Michael. With no sweet melodies or artist fades, it had the BPM of madness and the content wouldn’t make it past the watershed. Oh and it comes with a dance - wrap your legs around them and drown em, and when the beat drop whip your head back, get wrapped and be on your way. It was a Fresher quarter and they played amazingly. With a great shot from James, and two from Leah, with a bruised face.

With a clinic on where to put your butt from Marco, we started this quarter educated with victory 8 minutes away. I’ve said this so many times, the cows are probably home, in pjs and reading this match report, but what can I say other than we did the basics and it worked. The arc was strong, and the press was tight. However, it was confusing, when you look up and you see a 90kg man marking a gal weighing in at just over a half a loaf of bread. Like running for BLSA President, ICSM didn’t want it. So we took it.

Thank you for a lovely game of LUSL Cup, everyone did so well and it was nice to see the confidence in y’all grow. We had same great plays, and shots from the whole team, with some beautiful saving from the our keeper. It’s only up from here.

Wet bruised love,

Tillicum xx
