LUSL London vs ICSM 2s - 06/02/2023 (H)

BLWP 12 - 7 ICSM

The London played ICSM2s at home with a full team of 13! We went into the game with a determined mindset and got everyone hyped up.

After a few players arriving fashionably late, we started the match in a fast paced fashion. Speeding away towards the goal, tadpole Christian slammed a great goal into the net. Barney showed some lovely defence work, and Noah found some great space and smashed another goal into the net. Leech stayed tight to her player and showed great confidence and effort in calling for the ball when in free space.

The fashionably late tadpole Cole eventually got in the pool, and managed to dominate his player, shooting some terrific goals. Tadpole Smaragda gave plenty of energy to the match, and found some great space for the ball. After timing a great drive into pit, Smaragda put a great effort into scoring but was sadly saved by ICSM. Another fabulous shot from tadpole Noah put us higher on the scoreboard. This boosted our confidence further, helping to increase possession and our control over the game. Tadpole Isabel got possession of the ball and with nobody there to mark her, she teasingly drew closer to the goal and lobed it right over the goalie’s head. This was her first goal for the London! Tadpole Molly worked well on the wing, keeping on her player and showed some fab defence work.

Going into the third quarter, Incidor got slightly ahead of herself and fouled the opposition in pit, meaning Miracle flow was faced with a penalty. After some hyping up and encouragement, miracle flow set her eyes straight at the shooter and then suddenly whacked the ball away from the net, saving the goal. Absolutely terrific save from a terrific goalie. And it didn’t stop there. Some more squabbles in pit led to another penalty for ICSM2s. Miracle flow gracefully kept on her mark and again smashed the ball away and saving the pen. These moments kept energy levels high and the match alive.  Pontoon put up a fabulous fight for the ball, nearly drowning at one point (he’ll do anything for the London). Tadpole Holly put in a great shift, gracefully swimming along the wing and still keeping tight to her player. Tadpole Christian went a bit rogue at one point, hurling the ball from the middle of the pool a few times, until it eventually went in.

In the fourth quarter, tiredness was getting to a few of us, leading to some ICSM goals. Tadpole Isabel absolutely dominated one of ICSM’s men, not losing grip of him in pit and finding some excellent space. Tadpole Alfie played a great game, speeding up and down the pool and firmly fighting for the ball.

After twelve smashing goals (and five major fouls), the London won the game with a final score of 12-7. Once again, everyone put in a remarkable shift, so well done!!

Player of the match goes to miracle flow for being on another level in this match, absolutely demolishing numerous shots fired at her!!!
