Men vs UCL - 14/10/2018
UCL 15 - 7 BLWP
It's a new season and with that comes new rivalries and matches. The Men had a tough opponent for their first game - UCL. UCL had just been relegated from the Premiership, so they were wounded lions. From the off we came across a team who were talented and drilled, but we were very passionate giving them no easy goals. A tight first quarter meant that it was 3-2 in favour to UCL. Both teams missed some crucial scoring chances.
Having been drilled hard in how to defend a man-down, the team looked like a well oiled and lubed machine when it came to these situations. Shout-out to Tim for a fantastic block on the post. He was blocking shots like how he blocks his DMs. The team pressed well and hard for the first half but UCL proved to be too strong.
In the third quarter BLWP had their second wind resurgence and kept the UCL scoring to a minimum whilst banging in a couple of goals. Big big shoutout to Luke for being a beast in goal and being the Great Wall of Grantham.
Fitness proved to be the major factor in the last quarter, plus some questionable tabling, but UCL ran rampant with BLWP not being able to match them. Well done to Tadpole Rory for his first ever water polo match and managing to have a beautiful assist. As a team, we need to improve on attacking on man ups, driving and looking for the ball, and, as it's always been, fitness. Also thank you to the fans and WAGS for coming. I hope to see all of you at training more so that we can improve and get better.
