Men vs Essex - 14/11/2020+1 (H)

BLWP 19- 1 Essex

Well, we did it boys. We got our well deserved win with a staggering 19-1 win against Essex. We came down to poplar with a full team and saw what could only be mistaken as a East London group standing outside the pool of 7 men. Without their men's captain or their president, their hopes were shattered, their dreams crushed. And thats all before the game began.

First quarter began and we had our game plan in mind. Swim hard, swim fast and tire them out. We had this plan, but it almost was unnecessary even with Mark arriving on time to this game. Scoring almost immediately as the game started getting the ball to Lappy just seemed too easy, but it was that easy. Another pass to him in the pit and we were going strong. 'It would be unfair if Lappy scored all the goals in this quarter' thought Cole so he popped one back in the net as well to end the quarter 3-0.

For the second quarter we had 2 big advantages. We were shooting into the deep end so tougher for their goalie, and Liam made sure his ego wasn't kept in check. With our starting 7 going forward, we kept sinking them straight into the net without hesitation. Getting 5 goals in this quarter, Liam got very excitable here with his efforts. He couldn't have done it without Howitzer or myself on the wing getting them into him, with even one moment feeling like a previous moment of telepathy between myself and el presidente with a pass in front of him to swim onto and score, bliss. Special mention to Cole and Lappy scoring as well, hopefully to knock Liam off his high horse.

Third quarter starting and we are back to defending the deep end here. This quarter is well known for being a turning point in the game, but today is not that day. So much happened in only 7 minutes so lets get started with the highlight of the quarter. Tadpole Harry. The moment he received the ball and played for the foul which he got, he was ecstatic. Along with out other Freshers Mack and Ethan on the wings, we were an unstoppable force. Although, this quarter we had a small slip. We let one in. The disappointment was palpable. We picked ourselves up and went back at them. We also gave away a penalty this quarter as well unfortunately. But our man in the goal, stopped that Essex man, in. His. Tracks. End of the third quarter, and we are up 14-1.

Final quarter and we finish the game attacking the shallow end goal. Josh at point player keeps the ball moving and movement around the arc. Getting Noah in the shallow end pit defence made their player work far harder than anyone else, as Noah has said before, 'I like the fight.' Penis also showed his strong arm today with a few rockets at the goal, even if none were successful, the rattle of the posts or the whistle as the ball flew by would have been enough to put the fear of God in them. With another 5 goals this quarter from the usual suspects, we came out with an incredible 19-1 win, with the joy of knowing Essex are our BUCS cup game as well on the 11th of December. Should be a good game to see if they can bring any subs next time
