Men vs Essex (A) - 24/11/2024

BLWP 03 - 19 Essex

The team consisted of 7 players meaning we had a game with no subs ahead of us. We needed to play in a way so that we can maintain our stamina and at the same time reduce the number of goals scored on us while attempting to score ourselves. Staring at the short end meant that we had to have a compact defense and simultaneously take a lot of shots so that we can increase our chances of getting a good start to the match. We had a good effort from everyone and didn’t give up resulting in us scoring 2 goals while the other team only scored 3. A very good start for a team with mostly new players.

The second quarter was a problem though. We were in the deep end and therefore we needed to have good swimming and situational awareness to maintain a solid defense. Unfortunately, the other team was faster and more agile resulting in us playing defense in a 3v1, 2v1. This caused the team to get tired very quickly and at the same time fall back goal-wise. After some good saves in goal, good defense from Brazzers, and some solid attempts from Hussein in pit A, we managed to finish the second quarter with a score of 10-2. Similarly to the first two quarters the last two quarters ended in a final score of 19-3. Not what we wanted, but we achieved our purpose in this match. We had a lot of fun, learnt a lot from mistakes and from successes, met new people, made new friends and had a good match against a team with a bigger roster and new experienced players.

Tp James for his good improvement in defense as well as offense

Snailfish for trying to make conversation with the other team instead of defending
