Women vs King’s - 10/12/2018

BLWP 6 - 11 KCL

The end of the first term was marked by two consecutive games for our women's team. The first one was a home game vs Kings College. As always we expected a savage game from their, however, we were quite positively surprised as it was not as bad as in previous years... no swim costumes or nails were ripped off this time.

This match was a great learning experience for all of us. We realized that playing in allocated positions in the pool is extremely useful and makes the game as well as subbing far more efficient.

We started strong with good marking and tough defence finishing the first quarter with two goals scored by Leah and myself. The slick cooperation between Leah and myself in the second quarter gave us 2 more goals.

Half-time was rewarding for us as we kept side by side with Kings at that point. We spent this particular break very well with catching our breaths and listening to some great advice from our match coach Jono.

Despite that the next two quarters were not as rich in goals as the first two, however, Chloe ensured we got at least two scoring one in each quarter.

Regardless, being defeated and exhausted afterwards, this match was rewarding in terms of the number of things we all learnt. I realized that despite not-always-perfect attendance, it is beneficial to allocate positions in the pool for the gals. And once again all of us realized that fitness requires even more practice and that swimming sessions in the second term will be the best way to do it!
