After a lovely trip down to Colchester (no rail replacement this year yay!) and watching the boys play a competitive match, we donned our BLWP suit ready for battle.

The first quarter began with a speedy swim off from Incidor winning us the ball to put us into a winning mentality. With a tight press, Ceviche swiftly swam in off the wing to put our first goal in the back of the net. Ick-thys held strong holding her player in pit not allowing Essex to score. Falala took her chance on a speedy counter and found space to swing one into the back of the net. Tadpole Tash saved goal after goal, and orchestrated our attack by quickly feeding the ball upfield. A quick as you can say Essex, Incidor sped off the wing driving towards the goal to score. Tadpole Hyma stuck strong to her player and helped feed the ball upfield to Ceviche who scored another beautiful goal. To end the quarter on a high Falala took that ball and smashed it past their goalie. 2-5 to Barts.

Feeling the support of our mens team on the sidelines we began the second quarter. The girls created great movement, forcing their players to turn over the ball. With fabulous defence the girls crashed into pit to stop any goal attempts. Baraclapfish made pit her biatch, with a quick feed in off the wing from Incidor, BCF sent one flying into the net. Leech drove in and lobbed the ball into the net, and with their goalie moving it behind this goal line (VAR confirmed) but Coach Ciara decided to make it fair to Essex she wouldn’t allow it. Dirty chub was flying up and down the wing staying with her player on every counter. Ick-thys was battling her player in pit, feeding the ball into our attack. 5-6 to Barts.

After a somewhat stern halftime talk from Leech, we set our mindset straight and the third quarter commenced. Incidor had another speedy swim off winning us the ball. Quickly advancing our the ball into our attack. Leech got slightly too personal in Pit A, requesting the player buy her a drink before they grabbed her like that… The girls set up a fantastic arc and BCF was fed the ball and scored a powerful goal.  Ceviche hung onto her player on the counter, before feeding the ball to Falala to score another fantastic goal. Finally to round off the quarter the girls worked with incredible teamwork to feed the ball up, with BCF driving into pit to score yet another wonderful goal. And what testament to the girls fabulous denfence and a show stopping Tadpole Tash in goal, Essex scored no goals in this quarter. 5-9 to Barts.

Going into the final quarter locked in on the prize we began our ruthless attack. With a little switch in positions. Ick-thys had been let loose outfield in driver, quickly matching her players pace. BCF played strong in pit A, putting yet another goal away, with the girls creating fantastic space for her to do so. Ceviche and Incidor held their players strong on the wing, ready to feed the back into the attack from Tash. Leech was in Pit D, wrangling her player. Falala drove up and down the pool, helping both in attack and defence. To round out a fantastic game, BCF took a beautiful penalty. 6-11 to Barts.

A very competitive match but a wonderful win for Barts, with all the girls contributing through assists, goals, and fantastic defence.

Ceviche - for two fantastic goals, playing with such speed and finesse. A brilliant showcase of her skills.

Coach/ref Ciara for not allowing my goal. Yes I’m still salty.
