Women vs Imperial (H) - 30/01/2025

BLWP 07 - 08 Imperial

It was a dark and stormy night at fortress Poplar. It was the end of January and the start of 3rd year placement. The team arrived joined by some youthful tadpoles to fuel some extra energy for the senior girls to leech off of.

The first quarter started as always with Incidor speeding up the wing and winning the swim off. Quickly feed around the arc to Falala for slam one into the back of the net. The girls worked quickly and in sync. Tadpole Ellie was crashing into pit with ease, with Tadpole Fiona standing strong in pit. Ick-thys positioned herself well in pit A, having a great few attempts on the goal. The ball was travelling up and down the pool with power and speed. A lovely drive from Falala gave us another point on the scoreboard. Miracle flow graced the pool speeding up and down the wing fighting her player every chance she got. 2-2 even stevens.

With some fire in our bellies we were now attacking the deep end. Another speedy swim off from Incidor stole us the ball once again. Virgin Active tried her hand on the wing, sticking to her player, and helping feed the ball up the pool. Leech was flopping around in pit A and managed to lob one past the IC goalkeeper. With tapole Fiona on point, we controlled the play, giving Falala another chance to drive into goal and score another lovely goal. Tapole Ellie drove up and down, crashing onto pit at every defence. Tapole Hyma showed great play, pressing her player. Before the quarter was over Falala took the ball for another spin to get another goal. 5-3 Barts.

Quarter 3. Attacking the shallow end once again. Tapole Tash looked strong in goal, leaping out to save any rogue shot from IC. The girls worked hard to set up the arc and give goal opportunities. Tapole Aida debuted for the woman’s team, showing off her speed and skills. Ick-thys continued to give her player a good fight in pit A. Tapole Ellie and Leech worked hard to crash onto pit in the defence to steal the ball back. With only one ball making it past us into the net from IC. the score line stood a very competitive 5-4 to Barts.

Ready to attack the deep end we started our final quarter. The speedy Scotswoman won us the ball in the final swim off. Before a quick around the arc, the ball made it to point. Tadpole Fiona edged closer to the goal to slam one into the back of the net from the 5m. The girls fought with thy might, following their players like glue. Unfortunately IC managed to shake us off and make a few goals. With Leech ferociously scream on poolside and making subs left, right and centre and even banishing some players to the naughty corner, we continued our attack. Falala made yet another get away with the ball and scored another goal to try and put us closer to victory. In the last few moment of the game IC managed to slide past us and put a few extra goals in. 7-8 to Imperial. The closest game against them I have ever played at Barts.

Tp Fiona - for a lovely debut game with BLWP, fitting in with the team smoothly and scoring a lively goal from the 6m.

Leech - for screaming like there was no tomorrow (May have gotten slightly too competitive)
