Women vs Surrey (A) - 09/02/2025
BLWP 10 - 05 Surrey
It was a rainy and cold evening, and the men and woman made the enormous trek to Croydon. Dun-dun-deeeerrrrrrr. I remember the day well, like it was yesterday. It was. We had vengeance to settle and a fire in our bellies.
The game began with a speedy swim off from our resident swim offer, Incidor, to win us the first play of the game. The girls set up our arc strong, with Ceviche and Incidor on the wing for speed. Leech and Falala as drivers for power. Ick-thys as pit A for strength. Helsinki as Pit D for swift defence and a bit of fighting. And Tadpole Tash in goal to scare away the opposing from the net. The girls made lots of attempts of goal, with a quiet confidence inside. Our first goal of the game came of a strong drive from Falala. Helsinki was a force to be reckoned with beating away every pass into the oppositions pit with might. With our strong defence Tadpole Tash feed the ball up to Incidor for a speedy drive in off the wing to put our second goal away. Tadpole Holly raced up and down the pool with her player, pressing for a turnover. 2-3 to Surrey.
The game was far from over, in fact we had just begun, it was only the second quarter, I’m not sure what shit I’m chatting. The girls put all their training into effect and with coach Ciara calling the shots we were onto a winner. Not long into the quarter we were finding our feet. The girls crashed in left, right and centre onto pit winning the ball. Ceviche took the ball for a swim straight into the goal to score a fantastic goal. Falala took any slither of weakness and stole the ball straight off of Surrey. This paid off as with a quick turnover and a few great passes Falala sent one flying into the back of the net. We had got the upper hand. 4-3 to Barts.
Half time, only one injury. Coach Ciara found the slippiest part of poolside and went for a splash in the puddle. The third quarter was off to a flying start with Incidor winning us the ball in the swim off. Tadpole Fiona, took on driver and pressed her player relentlessly. The girls set up a beautiful man up, with Falala missing the goal narrowly, Leech decided the effort was not to go to waste and took the ball off the keeper to score. With fantastic teamwork the girls pressed and overturned the ball with ease. With the boys watching on, and the roars of encourage, ent in the stands the girls only got better. With a quick pass from Incidor to Leech, the woodwork didn’t stand a chance and she managed to shot without leaning back. 6-5 to Barts.
With a quick team talk, we were set to make our win a convincing one. Ick-thys rose out of he shadows and slung one right past Surrey’s goalkeeper. Helsinki kept batting away the ball from their pit like nothing I’ve ever seen before. The girls were on top form. With a swift pass up the pool from Tadpole Tash, Falala beat another powerful goal into the net. We were not stopping there. With a little one two, hot potato from Incidor to Leech we were up another goal. To round out our game Falala took the ball for another drive and slammed one straight into the goal. With a tight defence and a fantastic goalie we didn’t concede a single goal. 5-10 to Barts the Victory was ours.
